Title:Journey To The Mysterious Island

This Book Is About: A boy called Sean who gets a letter and signal from his Grandfather, Sean needs help, so he goes to his Stepfather.They find out what this letter is about, And it is about the Mysterious Island, Sean and his Stepfather fly to Palau to get to a destination.They find a Family of 2 who are willing to help them for $3000 American dollars, they finally get there, they land on a beach by a helicopter.They enter a cave which leads them to the island. Everything is different, Large animals are small, and small animals are large.Will they survive?

The Main Characters Are: Sean,Hank(Stepfather)Peter(Grandfather)Papa(The father of the girl)The girl(I don't know her name) 

I think this is a great book if you like Adventure and Mystery.It is hard to know what happens in the end.This book is very exciting to see the different types of creatures and animals.

Current Events Term 1

In Current Events I covered these topics:

• The design of the Halswell Skate Park and I made a submission to the council.
• Donald Trump’s Refugee Plan
• Christchurch Earth Memorial
• The new Ngā Puna Wai Sports Facility
• The Red Zone and Avon River Regeneration Plan with a submission to the council.

My favourite topic was Donald Trump’s Refugee Plan because I learnt a lot about the refugees.

Abandon Ship

Blog Title: Term 1 Novel Study

Term 1 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel Abandon Ship

I found this novel interesting because I really enjoyed the past of the story and the characters, I also really enjoyed reading along with debbie about her grandfather's diary.

During the novel I had to complete two major assessment tasks. The first is an Explain Map which shows the consequences of a major event in the book. The second was a Describe++ Map (Inference map) which shows I how I have connected prior knowledge and other experiences to what I have been reading to make an inference.

• I can make an inference about the ideas within the text, between texts and beyond the text Describe++ Map

National Standard this covers

• Year 7/8  Standard
• using several pieces of information to make inferences
  using their prior knowledge, along with information in the text, to interpret abstract ideas, complex plots, and sophisticated themes
• I can use a range of strategies, such as inferring, to work out more complex words.

In Maths we have been using to: use graphs, tables and rules to describe linear relationships found in number and spatial patterns.

In writing I have been learning to:

• use all basic punctuation independently
• attempt more complex punctuation (eg semicolons, colons, parentheses)

I have been especially focussing on using parentheses and commas. I have highlighted these in green where I have used them as well as other punctuation that I changed because it was used incorrectly. Here is a piece of my writing that shows this. Leadership Article

Games with minimal or no equipment. 

In PE we have been participating in a variety of games that require little or no equipment.

Below is the Matrix which shows our progression in this unit of learning.

Any Tag Games E.g Octopus, tag, tricky tag. BasketBall, Netball	Balls.Cones.	Because they are easy to set up or display, also they are easy to explain.

My Strengths.  

Some things that I have done well during this unit of learning are teaching and learning the games fast because they are easy to learn.My Next Steps are to listen to the rules correctly

Some things I could improve on when playing games with minimal or no equipment are focusing on the speaker  Because i get distracted of the things around me.
