Careers Education C.V. Writing

Careers Education C.V. Writing

In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.

A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.

Here is a link to our online Modelling Book that shows the process we have followed.

Three things that I have learned about writing a Curriculum Vitae are:

  1. You Need To be very specific on what you have written

  1. Always write about the truth of yourself

  1. Get references to prove how you can get the job.
Here is a link to my Skills based Curriculum Vitae.

Peer Mediation~1

                     Peer Mediation#1

2nd May 2017
Tuesday

I have done my Peer Mediation duty today with Amber and Daniel.

We  helped some students solve some arguments/problems.
There was a problem with two juniors about a ball; they were both wanting to play with it.

One of the students started crying so we went over to help. We helped give 3 suggestions which were:

  • The first person with the ball can play with it for the whole break
  • They take turns having the ball for 5 minutes each
  • They play together with the ball

The students solved the problem together by agreeing to play together with the ball.

I have demonstrated leadership by showing the care values (Active Thinking, Respect and Community) and by not being rude or cruel to others when helping solve a situation.

The leadership traits I have show are:

Trustworthy - being able to help the students knowing that they can trust me and that I won't judge them or be biased
Goal Focused - The goal was to make each child feel that their side had been heard and that they were both happy with the solution
Active Thinking - giving them 3 options to help them choose a solution

I can make links across texts by recognising connectives or adverbial clauses

I can make links across texts by recognising connectives or adverbial clauses

In this unit learnt how to connect adverbial clauses to a sentence.

A connective is A connective is something that connects to the next sentence.

An adverbial clause is An adverbial clause is commonly, but not always, fronted by a subordinate conjunction sometimes called a trigger word.

Here is my task

Red zone planning takes step forward Describe++ Map - Jade TONKIN

The Reading National Standards I have achieved are (delete the ones that are not relevant)
  • Year 7 and 8

Abandon Ship

Blog Title: Term 1 Novel Study

Term 1 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel Abandon Ship

I found this novel interesting because I really enjoyed the past of the story and the characters, I also really enjoyed reading along with debbie about her grandfather's diary.

During the novel I had to complete two major assessment tasks. The first is an Explain Map which shows the consequences of a major event in the book. The second was a Describe++ Map (Inference map) which shows I how I have connected prior knowledge and other experiences to what I have been reading to make an inference.

National Standard this covers

  • Year 7/8  Standard
    • using several pieces of information to make inferences
using their prior knowledge, along with information in the text, to interpret abstract ideas, complex plots, and sophisticated themes
    • I can use a range of strategies, such as inferring, to work out more complex words.

Algebra - Graphs, tables and rules.

Blog post title: Algebra - Graphs, tables and rules.

In Maths we have been using to: use graphs, tables and rules to describe linear relationships found in number and spatial patterns.

Here is a link to our online modelling book. This shows all of the learning we have been doing.

Here are some photos of my Extended abstract problem solving task.

My next step is to continue to apply what I have learned in a range of problem solving activities.

Leadership article blog post

Leadership article blog post

In writing I have been learning to:
  • use all basic punctuation independently
  • attempt more complex punctuation (eg semicolons, colons, parentheses)

I have been especially focussing on using parentheses and commas. I have highlighted these in green where I have used them as well as other punctuation that I changed because it was used incorrectly. Here is a piece of my writing that shows this. Leadership Article

Games With Minimal Or No Equipment

Games with minimal or no equipment.

In PE we have been participating in a variety of games that require little or no equipment.
Below is the Matrix which shows our progression in this unit of learning.

Screen Shot 2017-03-12 at 12.32.06 PM.png

The table below shows my understanding of games with minimal or no equipment.
(Fill this table in, in as much detail as possible. )

Examples of Games that need minimal or no equipment.
What equipment would we usually need to play these games.
Why do we play games with minimal or no equipment?
Any Tag Games E.g Octopus, tag, tricky tag.

BasketBall, Netball
Balls.Cones.Because they are easy to set up or display, also they are easy to explain.

My Strengths.
Some things that I have done well during this unit of learning are teaching and learning the games fast because they are easy to learn. My Next Steps are to listen to the rules correctly
Some things I could improve on when playing games with minimal or no equipment are focusing on the speaker  Because i get distracted of the things around me.
